He tomado prestado el título de la obra de Edmund de Waal y me he propuesto, por puro placer, hacer una recreación en papel y cartulina del mundo del que habla el escritor y ceramista británico. En este caso, la parte referida a la porcelana china, que asombró a los países occidentales y que inspiró una auténtica carrera por imitarla entre las cortes europeas, ya que su fórmula fue secreta durante siglos. Edmund de Waal recopila historias y fragmentos. Yo las recreo con la técnica de Kintsugi, nacida en Japón, que consiste en recomponer las piezas rotas con oro, haciendo bella la imperfección.
I have borrowed the title of the work of Edmund de Waal and I have set out, for pure pleasure, to make a recreation in paper and cardboard of the world told by the British writer and ceramist. In this case, the part related to Chinese porcelain, which astonished the Western countries and which inspired a real race to imitate it among European courts, since its formula was secret for centuries. Edmund de Waal collects stories and fragments. I recompose them with the technique of Kintsugi, born in Japan, consists of recomposing broken pieces with gold, making imperfection beautiful.
