Tauromaquia es el nombre que recibe una actividad supuestamente artística que en España significa la tortura y la muerte de miles de animales cada año. Desgraciadamente se ha elevado a la categoría de símbolo del país, convertida por una marca publicitaria en imagen imborrable de la conciencia colectiva española: el toro de Osborne.
Como tantas otras veces cuando se trata de la industria del espectáculo o de la alimentaria, los animales que lucen en sus etiquetas se muestran felices y en un entorno bucólico, lejos de la dura realidad en la que viven y mueren. He querido crear esta obra para mostrar toda la pudredumbre de la llamada "fiesta" nacional" a través del símbolo patrio más exhacerbado, queriendo reflejar la realidad de los festejos en los que se trata y da muerte a toros, vaquillas y becerros: acribillados, lanceados, quemados, ahogados, destrozados. Mi toro de Orborne es también un símbolo, que muestra en un cuerpo de toro en ruinas la realidad de unos festejos anacrónicos que deberían avergonzar a todos los españoles.
Bullfighting is the name that receives a supposedly artistic activity that in Spain involves the torture and death of thousands of animals every year. Unfortunately it has risen to the category of symbol of the country, turned by an advertising brand into an indelible image of the Spanish collective conscience: the Osborne bull.
Like so many other times when it comes to the entertainment or food industry, animals that show off in their brands are happy and in a bucolic environment, far from the harsh reality in which they live and die. I wanted to create this work to show all the rot of the so-called national "fiesta", through the most exhausted national symbol reflecting the reality of the festivities in which bulls, heifers and calves are killed, riddled, released , burned, drowned, killed. My Orborne bull is also a symbol, which shows in a body of a shattered bull the reality of anachronistic celebrations that should shame all Spaniards.
